Chelsea Chung is a photographer based between Taipei, Taiwan, and Seattle, Washington. She is studying Photo Media and Art History at the University of Washington. She often explores ambiguous ways of storytelling in her photographs, which also become a visual diary that articulates her experiences across different spaces and times. As a cinephile, her ways of seeing are heavily influenced by the art of cinematography. She has worked as a still photographer and served as a script doctor for several feature films. She aspires to combine her passion for photography and writing and pursue a career in filmmaking.
She travels extensively and enjoys exploring unfamiliar places with her camera. Most of her photographs were taken during these adventures, capturing the freedom and solitude she has cultivated. However, these photographs do not necessarily deliver a direct message. Instead, she leaves them obscure and elusive, hoping the audience will relate to them in their ways and ask questions.
